Last summer, I took the trip of a lifetime on USY’s Israel Adventure (Four weeks of pure Israeli fun!).
What a great decision, let me tell you.
The memories and friends are unrivaled and well, y’all really should hit up that usy.org/escape website and pick a trip. Don’t believe me? Well then I’ll convince you!
So there I was, just like you could be, meeting up at JFK Airport, wondering what lay ahead. I met 36 instant friends, and I mean instant. Like mixers in the airport right away. It’s crazy how well a trip to Israel makes you bond with the people around you, or maybe it’s just that these kids were kinda cool. I mean, one of them was International President Aaron Pluemer. Not to mention those other ‘Gev peeps (Hanna Shapiro Rafi Bernstein Reva Halprin)!
Anyways, four weeks later, I can truly say I was a changed USYer. I felt a new connection to our homeland and our religion. In addition, the extended time spent in Agron (Jerusalem) gave me a chance to really get to know the city. The Agron Hostel is prime location, walking distance from the tourist shopping center, the shuk, the old city, and so much more.
Oh the places you will go on Israel Adventure. It’s Eilat of fun, if you know what I mean (Haifa ????)! From climbing Masada, to floating in the Dead Sea, to enjoying the natural springs at Ein Gedi… And that’s just one day! My personal favorite thing was our night in the desert where we were able to just lie down and look up at the constellations and shooting stars. It made me so proud to have my USY region be named after such an awesome place.
You’ll have the greatest food too, like falafel on the streets of Tzefat (or is it Safed, or Zfat?), and falafel in downtown Jerusalem, and even falafel in Eilat! But actually though, you won’t be able to move after meals with the Druze and the Bedouins.
Israel has it all, and USY is the best way to see it.
Interested now? Of course you are! So sign up today! USY.ORG/ESCAPE!!! Ps come on USY on Wheels: Campus Edition with me!!!
Lots of love,
USY Israel Adventure – Have an incredibly exciting and stimulating summer in Israel. For four weeks, you’ll be exposed to the history and contemporary realities of Judaism and Israel. Climb the fortress of Masada, explore the stalactite caves of Netifim, swim in the waters of the Kinneret, pray at the Kotel, and drink tea in a Bedouin tent on the sands of the Negev desert. You’ll experience these sights and sounds with new friends who will share your love of the Jewish homeland.
