Renowned Haredi rabbi prohibits women from driving due to immodesty
Haredi Rabbi Amnon Yitzhak has said he believes it is unlawful for women to drive cars, as it is immodest. Last week in Kiryat Shmuel, the Rabbi said that Torah sages never approved of women driving, and said that only “fourth or fifth” rate rabbis would allow this to occur. It was then mentioned that the reason to not allow women to drive was that it causes immorality since a woman should not expose herself and cause distraction in the streets. Along with him, there have been other rabbis that are against women driving cars.

Law proposed in Knesset to prevent mikve guides interrogating women about religious practice
Aliza Lavie and the ITIM religious services advocacy and advice group have proposed a law that does not allow attendants at the mikve to question a women’s private or religious practices when they are seeking to immerse themselves. According to Jewish law, women should immerse themselves on several occasions, and the bill proposed says that women have been forced to undergo tests at many mikvaot that interfere with a woman’s privacy. Many complaints are heard by the ITIM as well as other organizations about municipal rabbis instructing attendants to question these women; this has led to some women not being allowed to immerse in the mikve. This bill would forbid attendants from asking women private information about themselves before the mikve.
