So, what’s going on this week?
On the morning of November 13, 2013, a Palestinian terrorist stabbed and killed 18-year-old soldier Pvt. Eden Atias as he slept on an Israeli bus in the northern city of Afula. Atias began his IDF service less than a month ago, and was still in basic training at the time of his murder. The terrorist killed Atias in cold blood, brutally stabbing him as he slept in his seat. He was severely injured and was evacuated to a nearby hospital, where he died of his wounds. Moments after the attack, the terrorist was detained and transferred to security forces for questioning. The IDF and its soldiers join in the sorrow of Pvt. Atias’ family and friends.
Due to a super-typhoon, over a thousand people were killed when the disaster hit. On Monday, November 11, 2013, Israel being one of the first nations on scene, dispatched several rescue and humanitarian aid teams to the Philippines. IsraAID sent an advanced team of seven medical experts to scout out the situation and, as director Shahar Zahavi told The Jerusalem Post, “provide medical intervention.”
