Get Hungry for World Food Day!
Shalom HaNegev!
It is again time for a splendid SA/TO Scenes email!
October 16 is World Food Day!
Keep reading to find out how different countries around the globe celebrate World Food Day and how you can participate
In the U.S.A.:

Here in America, people celebrate by hosting “awareness dinners,” packing up food packages, and growing gardens. Another way to participate is to join the World Food Day social media campaign. Click on the link above to learn more about these ways you can be involved.
Host one of these Awareness Dinners as a chapter program!
In Australia:

In Australia, Eat Local Feed Global is a program taking place in order to help alleviate hunger. If you click on this link, you will find a bit more of a fun and challenging way to participate by going to local restaurants and, following in the footsteps of Australia’s program Eat Local Feed Global, encourage establishments to donate a percentage of the money they make on a certain day to a local charity or soup kitchen.
Have your chapter eat at the restaurant that you convince to donate!
In Israel:

In this article, you can learn about an organization called Leket, founded by Joseph Gitler, that raises hunger awareness and helps the problem by going to restaurants and cafes, taking their leftovers from the day, and redistributing where it is needed. Also attached is the Leket website.
With your chapter, go to various food establishments and ask if they will contribute to eradicating world hunger by donating their leftovers.
Make sure to share your action by taking pictures of your participation in World Food Day and posting them on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, tagging HaNegev USY, and using the hashtag #SmileforSATO
ALSO: At International Convention, as part of this year’s Changemakers Program, we are looking for Changemakers in our own region! We are beginning to collect information about any social action projects your chapter has done since last IC. Please send pictures and a short description of the social action project to serenadeutch@gmail.com.
We can’t wait to see all of the awe-inspiring things you have done and will continue to do!
Love,
