Welcome to your very first SATO Scenes!
Aside from the High Holidays, does anybody know what other big event happens in September? September is Hunger Action Month!
Now I know all your chapters must be thinking, “What are some ways I can be active to fight hunger this month?”
Well, it’s as easy as 1-2-3 with these simple activities!
1. Watch “A Place at the Table” – This documentary is now on Netflix. Consider hosting a chapter program where you show this movie. It is really eye-opening, and watching it is the reason why the theme “Food for Thought” was chosen.
Here is a great website that has a description of the movie as well as other resources:
2. Go Orange for Hunger– Have your chapter members all wear orange to a program in September. Orange is the designated color of hunger awareness. Take pictures and post to show that you are spreading awareness! (Feel free to do it in October if you have no more programs this month because of the holidays. Or, wear orange to a chapter holiday program coming up!)
Use the attached flyer to spread the word around your synagogue!
3. Share Our Strength’s Dine Out for No Kid Hungry
Go to participating restaurants this September and they will donate a portion of their profit toward feeding hungry children!

We want to see your action!! Introducing Hanegev’s newest hashtag: #smileforSATO. Use this in twitter, facebook, and instagram posts to highlight SATO projects that your chapter does throughout the year! Chapters who are doing social action and TO projects this year will be highlighted in these emails, so be on the lookout and get ready for a SATO- filled year!
We are looking forward to seeing all the great things you do!
